Code of Business Conduct
These standards describe the professional conduct expected in Idiomly’s client relationships and language work. Project-specific commitments should also be recorded in the agreed brief.
Honesty about the service
Represent qualifications, experience, availability, and service capabilities accurately. Do not claim certifications or accreditations that are not held. Distinguish professional translation from certified translation, and identify limitations that could affect the requested use.
Quality and accountability
Accept work appropriate to the translator’s language and subject competence. Follow the agreed instructions, preserve meaning, research terminology, and review the work before delivery. Raise unclear passages and material errors rather than quietly guessing or concealing a problem.
Communicate changes that could affect price, scope, quality, or timing. Address feedback directly and agree on the appropriate correction or next step.
Respect, confidentiality, and conflicts
Treat clients, colleagues, and the people represented in source materials respectfully. Harassment, discriminatory treatment, bribery, and misuse of confidential information have no place in the work.
Disclose a personal or commercial conflict of interest that could compromise professional judgment or confidentiality. Do not use a client’s documents, identity, or project as a public example without permission.
Raising a concern
Send a concern about professional conduct to translations@idiomly.ca with enough context to identify the project and issue. Include only information relevant to the concern. A report should be considered on its substance and handled with appropriate confidentiality; absolute anonymity cannot be promised.
