Translator & Supplier Standards
These standards set out expectations for translators, reviewers, and other suppliers engaged on Idiomly projects. They complement the assignment terms agreed with each professional.
Competence and assignment scope
Provide accurate information about qualifications, language combinations, subject expertise, and availability. Accept only work you can complete to the agreed standard and deadline. Confirm the deliverables, reference materials, terminology, format, and review responsibilities before starting.
Human work and quality
Provide translation and review performed entirely by professional translators. Do not use AI or machine translation, including machine-generated drafts or output that is subsequently edited or reviewed. Follow the brief, use approved reference material, and flag uncertainties that require clarification.
Do not delegate an assignment to another person or introduce a new processing service without prior agreement. Report a delay, material error, or change in capacity as soon as it becomes apparent.
Confidentiality and files
Use project information only for the assignment. Limit access to authorized people, follow agreed transfer and storage arrangements, and do not upload client material to public tools or use it in portfolios without permission.
Follow agreed return, retention, and deletion instructions. Report suspected loss, misdelivery, or unauthorized disclosure promptly through the project contact. Do not attempt to conceal an incident.
Fair and accountable working relationships
Communicate respectfully, disclose conflicts of interest, and keep invoices and work records accurate. Fees, deadlines, revision scope, and payment terms should be agreed for each assignment rather than assumed from this page.
Questions about an assignment or these standards can be sent to translations@idiomly.ca. Raising a good-faith quality or confidentiality concern is part of responsible professional work.
